In plain words:

An ordinary transaction only shows the movement of money for a day. A dedicated record remembers the whole story: the total amount, the term, how much is already repaid and how much is still left.

On this page you can:

• record loans, debts and money you lent to others as separate records,
• log payments for each record,
• see the repayment progress and the list of overdue ones,
• make payments in a currency other than the record's, with a conversion rate,
• close repaid records without losing the history.

You need at least one account of type “Debts”, “Loans” or “Owed to me” - you can create it in the “My accounts” section.
